Têm uma moeda própria, um sistema de saúde autogerido, uma rede educativa e um gabinete de habitação. São cooperativas de autogestão e auto-organização, grupos de pessoas que vivem à margem do sistema, tomam decisões em assembleia e baseiam a sua organização na confiança. Na Catalunha, já há 1200 cidadãos que optaram por esta maneira de viver e a implantação destas comunidades está a espalhar-se.
